there is one sure-fire way to find out if a female has been painting...check her ponytail.
guilty.
shawn and i got home monday night... we were home less than two hours when My Love had the IKEA itch. so we left our suitacses and guitars in the entry way and laid the seat down in the car. IKEA trips yeild much stuff, in my experience. you just keep telling yourself, 'this is so cheap' and before you know it, you have a car packed so tight there is barely breathing room.
we needed new light fixtures. we got several of them and a few other things too. the time change caught up with me around 8pm, but Shawn worked on changing fixtures and clearing out the boxes in the room that would be transformed into his studio. we have hit the ground running.. (i don't use the word 'hit' lightly either! *grin*) and our house is looking much more together at the end of 3 long work days. shawn's studio is painted, has a desk, and track lighting accented with some tall candles in silver holders. my office is taking shape, complete with built-in shelves and a fresh coat of mod colored paint. you could study the differences in shawn and i's personalities just by examining our personal spaces... his is moody and vibey..dark blue with silver accents and funky lights... my space is absolutely one hundred percent symmetrical with modern square (black) shelves and a classy urban moss color... its funny how different our comfy spaces look! no wonder its so hard to decide anything about the REST of the house! *grin* the closet we both love, though. we kind of had our own trading spaces type moment as we watched the messy walk-in closet bloom into our own personal dressing space in less than 24 hours with the help of fresh coat of paint, some shelving, color coordinated hangers, and a new light fixture.
ahh...home improvement.
right before we drifted off to sleep last night, exhausted Love said simply, 'starting to feel like home'. 'yep,' i agreed and then we slept that kind of sleep you have when you've worn your body out with physical labor. it was beautiful.
i want to say there is nothing better than watching the Man You Love work...i don't know why. that's probably not a very 'progressive' statement for me as a woman to make, but when did progression become the goal anyways? [note to self: no tangents!] but i really do love watching my husband build things and figure out how to do wire things and enjoying the power tools he so carefully picked out. its kind of magical in its own way.
so we get wireless set up in our house monday...so hopefully no more big lags in my writing! should be good...
well i will be writing more later...we need to get going...we are going today to look at some...PUPPIES! i can't believe how excited i am about that...there will be another litter ready in feb....we just wanted to check the place out first. plus, its a 4 hour drive and its a nice change from the hammering and painting that has become our lives this week!
check it out: http://www.gamefarmandvizsla.com/vzsla/index.htm
we just got the first mixes of shawn's new record today! they are AWESOME! can't wait til "ripen' comes out march 7!!!!
one more note about JOE before i get off here:
he's at my parents doing really well..he got a new monkey flashlight and its all he can talk about! *grin* my mom is at children services today... basically there is one caseworker who has to file a report..if she does, then the health department and probation and also the court system will be forced to file complaints as well.... so we are praying she will follow through..please pray along those same lines...
thanks...

oooohh puppies! what type of dog are you looking to get Kate? i have a three month old golden retriever who is just an angel. "Abby" is my favorite girl, i don't know if you are a "big" or "little" dog person(you could probably make very astute guesses as to the differences in personality that each "type" of person would entail but not me, and especially not when i'm tired...) but i personally love the exuberance and energy that specifically labs and goldens have. dogs really do fit personalitys(*he says as he feels like the most inexuberant and unenergetic person in the world*).
i'me curious to hear what breed yo uare looking for.
Wow, speaking of tangents. i out-tangented you that time Kate! Bear with me, i apolagize. Have a great evening and thank you for entertaining me with your post. I did enjoy it muchly.
Tim
after actually looking at your link i have discovered the Vizsla. sounds like a fantastic dog.
see tim if you actually took the time to visit the link FIRST!!
Sorry. Again.
Dogs are the best! I've never heard of a Vizsla, but they look really cool. We have a black lab named Emma. She is a sweetheart. Word of advice...obedient school. It's a must.
glad to hear that you're getting settled in. Also glad to hear that little Joe is making his climb back to health. Those are scary moments.
Kate, continue to pursue life to the fullest. I always love to hear of how your life is fairing and to read of how you're trying to enjoy it for all it's worth. I hope you never lose that.
Kate - I'm so excited for you about getting a puppy! The Vizslas look beautiful! If they are anything like my yellow lab, Nash, you'll have an instant best friend (that may chew on some of your stuff) ;)!
A dog is just what you need to make those cozy places you've just developed even cozier!!
