joe (4) and josh (2) have been known to say some pretty funny things, but when my mom called the other day and told me the following conversation, i giggled until my jaw hurt.
joe and josh live with my parents nearly full time, although my parents have no 'official' or legal title as their guardians. on occasion, the boys have to go to their biological mom's house to go to a doctor appointment or some such thing.
last thursday joe was having a doctor check up, so the night before mom got them ready to go and as she securing them in their carseats the next morning, she gave them her regular reassurances.
"ok, boys...you are going to see mommy marie tonight and after your doctor visit, mommy tina or daddy bill will come and pick you up...and maybe if you are good we'll get some french fries on the way home" their i-don't-want-to-go faces quickly turned into smiles. she kissed them on their cheeks and right before they were to pull away in the car with my brother aaron, mom asked them one last thing...
"boys, who is going to be watching over you?" (of course, she was fishing for 'Jesus')
joshy, not quite getting the implication, said "mommy marie!"
joe, looked over and immediately corrected his little brother, "no not! she doesn't watch us. Jesus has to!"
