God (a.k.a. bus reviver)

in case you aren't already aware of this...it takes almost 16 hrs in a tour bus to get from mesa, arizona to salt lake city, utah.

we finished the show in mesa, packed up our stuff, dropped shawn off at the airport, and started on that exact trek. only 8 of us total left on the bus with my husband's departure... we watched the news flicker on and off the giant tv screen as the signal was frequently interrupted by objects in the city.

i bid everyone g'night around midnight, took some *magic* nyquil, and cuddled up in my freezing cold bottom bunk. (its seriously about 60 degrees on the bus..."they" say its to keep germs from spreading, i think its because the boys get sweaty and smelly easily)

i awoke with a silly dream still lingering in my mind and smiled to myself. in my dream shawn and i were bricking the floor in our basement and then shawn decided to build a pond in the basement, citing that there was a fresh water spring under our house so it would be 'perfect'...and then if he wanted to fish, he could do it without even leaving the house. if any of you know shawn, you are smiling! *grin*

so i rolled over, smiled to myself, and then thought 'hey. the bus isn't moving.' usually when the bus is no longer moving, it means you have way over-slept and the bus is already parked at the venue... but it seemed unlikely to me that we had dirven 16 hours already...(nyquil isn't that powerful!) i rolled out of my bunk, slipped on a sweatshirt, slid back the white door that separates the bunk area from the front lounge, and turned the the light on.

i could see j, our driver, with his head down on the steering wheel. 'j, is everything okay?' 'the bus over-heated and i pulled over to let it cool off. the thing is i accidently left the fog lights on and now it won't start.' i glanced over at the clock on the wall. 5:00am. i tried to think of something, 'is there anyone we can call?' j began to search gps on his computer and came up with only one listing. it then occurred to me that we were really out in the middle of nowhere. the map that popped up on his gps quickly confirmed my suspicion. i sat down in the lounge as j called the listing and was told the best they could do was a tow later in the morning. he thanked the guy and hung up. i saw his hands cover his face.

then i felt it...that little tug inside that tells you to come to God. i was about to ask everyone if we should pray, when i sensed the Lord had something for me. 'God, i know this is a small thing, but we really need this bus to start. please' i had no more than finished when j tried 'one last time' to turn the ignition...AND IT STARTED! the bus just purred like a kitten.

j pulled the curtain that separates the driver from the lounge and through it i heard him in muffled tones telling the other driver why it was working...explaining it... a warming sensation flooded my insides and i whispered, 'thank you'.

Oh Kate, what an awesome story. God is there to provide the big things and the little things. You had such faith. What a cool testimony.

Many Blessings my friend!

Kathy

I miss our blogging insights, gathered up and passed back and forth. I know that life is extremely busy, and i'm feeling it as well.. btw: i got a copy of your sister's CD... I prayed to it, it's the perfect tonese just to breathe in all of her lyrics and melodies..

That story sounds like while I was on my trip. i bent my head down and prayed I hadn't lost 30 bux while on California, and 20 seconds after our little group of 5 prayed, I found it in my purse.. miracles really.. simply, miracles...

lots of thoughts and hugs heading your way,

Shannon
