{pictures of the house coming by the end of the week}
ahh...is there anything quite as sweet as finding a kickin' coffee shop? i was driving around west seattle last night, looking for the metro market, (a little lost) and happened by a coffee shop with a big sign screaming "FREE WI-FI"...now that's a sign that gets my attention! imagine my glee to find it not only has working wi-fi but also great comfy coouches, good coffee, good lounge music, AND not tons of people! a rare find!
a couple of notes before i dive in...
i work up this morning with this word in my head: wrestless. literally i opened my eyes and was immeadiately aware of that the term best fitting me right now is WRESTLESS. i get that feeling sometimes...the kind where you can't sleep or at least when you wake you feel like you can vividly remember how the shadows danced on the walls all night as if you hadn't been sleeping...my anxiety usually plays out in dreams and the last couple of nights i have some serious nightmares. shawn is in dallas, working on the new record, and i am here in seattle preparing to leave in a few days to be with my family for my grandma's memorial service and then i will join him. its weird sleeping alone now- that might be part of the issue, but i feel like their is something stirring in me besides missing my love. many people in my family struggle with 'anxiety'...i have learned ,for me, medication is not the way. often the racing heart and sleeplessness points to something real, seen or unseen, felt or foreign, physical or spiritual...i have learned to pray just for God to reveal me to myself and then to give me rest. please pray for that too...thanks.
one other thing:a visitor commented that he looked at my link to the magazine RISEN and was disappointed to find the website had pictures of Ozzy on it...i hadn't really thought about that before (so glad he brought it to my attention) so i wanted to explain real quickly, in case some of you also click on that link and share his offense.-
RISEN is a magazine put out by Christians that's main purpose is to take a real honest look at the people- musicians, actors, and athletes- who are impacting our culture. they don't do the usual "wow you are so famous...how expensive is your car? and what's it like to be sex symbol?" kind of articles...instead they take the opportunity to ask these people what it is they really believe..what their worldview is...what they think about the deep questions of life...in essence, their goal is to unearth the journey of these individuals however misguided or flat-out-wrong they may be. for me, as a lover of Jesus and someone who believes in His kingdom..this mag is valuable to me in the following ways: 1.) it helps me know what's out there so i be ready to answer anyone 2.) keeps me "in" the world though not "of" it...i think its good to be informed** 3.) i love to see that every person- even someone like Ozzy- is searching...a good thing to keep in mind. check out the whole website...its not dark at all..in fact, this month's issue had a great (inspiring) article on switchfoot!
**(disclaimer) all information is not good- MTV is repulsive and indecent- this mag is different because its decent and sticks to real questions with significance...while some of the people they interview are arguable known for being indecent characters, that's not what you'll read about**
ALRIGHTY THEN....actually let's make these two separate posts...ha! keeping it shorter by cheating!

Kate, I haven't the slightest clue WHERE in Seattle it is, I think Capital Hill, but there's a coffee shop named "Perkatory" we went to and it's owned by a church planter. His church meets at Piecora's, a pizza place. Just thought I'd let ya know in case you stumble upon it. I doubt the guy remembers who we are, but hey, I hear the coffee's good--their barista got "best in seattle" or something.
I am anxious to see pictures of your house!!! I am a picture junkie! (if there is such a thing.)
nicole and pianoman..thanks for commenting about the whole MTV thing...
...here's my 2 cents, for what its worth- i am glad you are selective, nicole, first of all. and i can say there are some shows (punk'd in particular) that i think are pretty funny...i have had times when i watched the music videos...but i always felt guilty because it seems like every other video has to be shut off and i started asking myself: what is the tone and message of what they are 'selling' here? and it seems to me the overall messages seem to be the desire for fame (even an obsession with famous people's lives) and then sex...sure there's some U2 in there somewhere that's encouraging, but for me i just isn't worth wading through the crap..
