speeding in Spokane

so...its tour: day numero uno and i am working on an hour and a half of sleep. what a way to start, huh? we finished packing up the excursion (huge rental vehicle...and when i say huge, i mean, so HUGE you feel like you are driving a semi or something)...well, anyway, what was i saying? oh yeah, the 'boys' (shawn and neal (cello player) and craig (percussion)) finshed packing around 1:00am. shawn came to bed and woke me up...it was disheartening to realize we had only two and a half hours to sleep at that point...but hey, sometimes sleep has to take second place to connecting. its been busy this week with the photo shoot and rehearsals and all...it felt good to be alone and to just talk. so we talked until we couldn't talk anymore...and before we knew it, the alarm was screaming at us to get up.

i am the token 'morning person' among these artists peoples (but really who is a morning person at 3:30...isn't that still technically night?)...so i took the first shift of driving. i drove until i got pulled over by a cop just inside spokane, washington. 78mph in a 60mph zone. not good. especially since the rental car was not in my name. i was too tired to come up with anything brilliant or cute or teary so when the cop rapped on the window and asked if there was any reason why i was driving so fast....i said 'you know, i have been up since 3am and i am dead tired. i thought i was only going 70'. that great act of genius earned me a $93 dollar fine. shift change immeadiately followed.

and 4 more hours later we arrived in northern montana. which happens to be beautiful just in case you have never been here. stunning. it made the long drive bearable. thanks God we have the bus tonight and every other night this month. i cannot wait to crawl up into my bunk (or 'coffin' as my mom called it) and drift off to dreamland.

i keep dreaming i am pregnant. so random. the other night i dreamed i was giving birth and when i woke up i was sweating and frankly in a PANIC. sometimes i wonder where dreams come from?

a 'runner' to me to the airport to return our monster vehicle this afternoon. her name is jan. do you ever peg people wrong? i kind of consider myself a great reader of people, but every now and then someone takes me by complete suprise. jan sure did. in the short ride to and from the airport and to and from target she caught me off guard. she looked like someone who had been raised in the church and who would be prim and proper and conservative. i don't know why but she opened her life to me and let me have a look at what i coudln't surmise on my own. she grew up in an abusive home and married an abusive man. she drank too much. she would go to church and think 'i don't have what they have' and then go on not knowing where to get it. she got divorced and then remarried the same man 3 years later. she said 'people all have their own journeys' and told me how AA helped her really connect with Jesus. she blessed me. everyone really does have their own journey, don't they? i need to remember that.

well my hubby is starting and i don't want to miss him. more later!

Hey, On sunday I assume you're going to be in Eugene Oregon? Since it's part of the Shawn McDonald Tour and Paul Wright? My friend called me and told me, something tells me I really should really take you to this concert. I don't know why, but it keeps coming up.. So, we're driving down to the town where I grew up and where I went to First Baptist with Shawn years ago. If so, I'm totally estatic to meet you, almost as much as most people would be estatic to meet shawn LOL.. I'm just not that type of girl ;-) I'm going to be there fairly early, so if you're around I'd like to chatter with you even if for a second, and if you don't have time, that's okay too.. but I would like to give something to you.. and that takes like 30 seconds. :-) Anyway.. I hope travelling is going okay. Hey, I posted a pic I took with my tripod about 2 days ago... just random side note... just so you know what I look like.. and bummer about the speeding ticket!!! :-P

You should really work on your grammer and punctuation. Most of the crap you wrote on this blog is barely readable. Also, the whole all-lowercase style may have worked for ee cummings, but it does not work for you. I suggest you run to the nearest Border's and pick up a copy of Strunk & White's Elements of Style before your next posting.

If you don't like someone's blog because of whatever messed up reason, why bother even posting about it???

As a descriptive grammarian and a woman with a B.A. in English, I like Kate's blog and am not put off by her grammar or spelling. My professors always taught me that the world of e-mail and blogging has very few rules when it comes to grammar, and I stand with them. Down with prescriptive grammar! ;) Much love to you Kate.

dear anonymous,
sorry my lack of grammar bothered you...i think of this blog as a journal or sorts and am often writing quickly. when keeping up with friends, i am more concerned with content than having correct grammar. i like writing the way i talk since i wish i could talk to all of my friends rather than keeping up this way.
thanks for the love, friends.

KATE!!!!!!!! Okay.. so my friend was going to take me to the concert and now she said she can't afford two tickets. I was wondering of the offer still stood to put my name on the list? Let me know... in a pinch and really want to go... I feel weird asking LOL, but I remember what you had mentioned a while back.
